VEXCEF-O is rapidly absorbed after oral administration. About 40% to 50% is absorbed. C max following 200 and 400 mg doses of oral suspension are 3 and 4.6 mcg/mL, respectively. T max occurs between 2 and 6 h following administration of 400 mg and between 2 and 5 h after a 200 mg dose.Protein binding is about 65%. About 50% of absorbed dose is excreted unchanged in the urine in 24 h. Serum t ½ averages 3 to 4 h, but may be as long as 9 h in some healthy subjects VEXCEF-O is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections, such as | · Treatment of uncomplicated UTIs, ·otitis media, · pharyngitis, tonsillitis, acute bronchitis, · acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, and · uncomplicated gonorrhea |

· Make sure you have told your doctor if you: ·If you are allergic to or sensitive to cefixime, or any of the ingredientsIf you are allergic to penicillin, or any other antibiotics ·If you have any kidney problems ·If you are pregnant or breast feeding or think you might be pregnant · If you are receiving anticoagulant (blood thinning) therapy | You must take your medicine as the doctor tells you. It is important to take VEXCEF-O Tablets at the right time. Your doctor will decide which is the best dose for you, depending on your illness. The recommended dose adult : 200-400 mg in single or divided doses .Children under 50 kg :8mg/kg body weight Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the dose you missed and take your next dose when you are meant to. Otherwise, take it as soon as you remember, and then go back to taking your doses as you would normally. If you are not sure whether to skip the dose, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Do not take a double dose to make up for the dose that you missed. WHAT TO DO IF AN OVERDOSE IS TAKEN | In that case do not delay, ask your doctor immediately what to do or contact your nearest hospital emergency department. Do this even if there are no signs of discomfort or poisoning. Please tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without prescription, your doctor may wish to alter your dose of VEXCEF-O if you are taking: | · Other antibiotics, ·Anticoagulants (blood thinners) such as warfarin ·Aspirin, ·Carbamazepine . Probenecid and · Vitamins | Common side effects of VEXCEF-O include: headache, dizziness, diarrhea, stool changes, nausea, abdominal pain, stomach ache, vomiting, flatulence (wind). Serious side effects which may require medical attention include: - unexplained bruising or bleeding
- severe diarrhea
- rash with or without itching, swelling
- severe reddening or blistering of the skin
- fever
- joint pain
- genital itching, or vaginal pain with discharge
