| INFORMATION FOR USE OF A MEDICAL PRACTITIONER, HOSPITAL OR LABORATORY | | Each uncoated tablet contains: Meloxicam BP…15 mg | | Each uncoated tablet contains: Meloxicam BP…15 mg | | People who take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) (other than aspirin) such as meloxicam may have a higher risk of having a heart attack or a stroke than people who do not take these medications. These events may happen without warning and may cause death. This risk may be higher for people who take NSAIDs for a long time. Tell your doctor if you or anyone in your family has or has ever had heart disease, a heart attack, or a stroke, if you smoke, and if you have or have ever had high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or diabetes. | PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION | Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that exhibits antiinflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic activities in animal models. The mechanism of action of meloxicam, like that of other NSAIDs, may be related to prostaglandin synthetase (cyclo-oxygenase) inhibition. Meloxicam is well absorbed following oral administration. It is 99% bound to plasma proteins. Meloxicam has a plasma-elimination half-life of approximately 20 hours. It is extensively metabolised mainly by oxidation and excreted in similar amounts in the urine and in the faeces; less than 3 % of a dose is excreted unchanged. The volume of distribution is increased in severe renal failure. MELOXIV is indicated to relieve the symptoms of | Make sure you have told your doctor if you: · Are pregnant· Are breast-feeding· Plan to become pregnant· Are having surgery, including dental surgery· Have or have ever had asthma | You must take your medicine as the doctor tells you. It is important to take MELOXIV Tablets at the right time. Your doctor will decide which is the best dose for you, depending on your illness. The usual dose of MELOXIV is 7.5 mg, taken as a single dose each day. The maximum recommended daily dose of MELOXIV is 15 mg. Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the dose you missed and take your next dose when you are meant to. Otherwise, take it as soon as you remember, and then go back to taking your doses as you would normally. If you are not sure whether to skip the dose, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Do not take a double dose to make up for the dose that you missed. WHAT TO DO IF AN OVERDOSE IS TAKEN | In that case do not delay, ask your doctor immediately what to do or contact your nearest hospital emergency department. Do this even if there are no signs of discomfort or poisoning. Symptoms of overdose may include: lack of energy,drowsiness ,upset stomach,vomiting,stomach pain,bloody, black, or tarry stools,vomiting a substance that is bloody or looks like coffee grounds, difficulty breathing, seizures, coma Please tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without prescription, your doctor may wish to alter your dose of MELOXIV if you are taking: - methotrexate
